Bloodborne The Old Hunters and Patch 1.07 Detailed

The Old Hunters expansion will be hitting Bloodborne players very shortly – 24 November to be exact – and with this comes a brand new patch to bring even more content to all players.
In a previous post we covered some of the new online features that will be coming to Bloodborne with patch 1.07. This article will aim to provide more details on the new expansion as well as some things you’ll need to know if you want to kickstart your experience with the new online features.
New character

This is Brador, a hunter who has donned the scalp and horns of a foul beast. He’s described as “an ancient Hunter and assassin once employed by the Healing Church who sits in a dark cell, waiting for something – or someone – with bell in hand”.
New enemy
Referred to as the “Bell Holder”, we’re informed that it’ll wield a huge Bell Axe and is “one of the most formidable beasts you will face”.
New weapons
The Bloodletter: Said to be Brador’s weapon of choice, it’ll involve cutting yourself and spilling your own blood in order to unleash its full potential. Seems like hunters will have to make some wise decisions as to when they utilise this power – as the cost is bound to be risky.
Gatling gun:Â It’s a portable version of that god-forsaken gun Djura uses to rain bullets down at you from the tower in Old Yharnam. Whilst great for rapid-fire attacks, you’ll need to watch your ammo count as it goes through Quicksilver Bullets as rapidly. Don’t expect to be nimble whilst wielding it either, your movement will be heavily restricted due to it’s bulky construction.

New Rune –Â The Beast’s Embrace
For those who watched the trailer you’ll have noticed the moment where the hunter takes on a form of a beast. Well, this’ll be the rune that allows you to do so. It was forbidden from use, but fell into the hands of the Healing Church who didn’t think twice to exploit the rune’s power. If you’re brave (or foolish) enough to use it, you’ll find yourself taking on a formidable appearance in exchange for boosted transformation effects.
How to access the Old Hunters DLC
As with any DLC there’s always the question, “How do I actually get to the Old Hunters content?’
Well, here’s a handy step by step guide to help you out.
- Defeat the boss in Cathedral Ward, and examine the altar in the back of the room to change the in-game time to night.
- Go back to Hunter’s Dream and pick up “Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter” from one of the messengers.
- Go to Oedon Chapel, take the left hand exit to enter the square.
- Go to the right hand end of the square and this’ll trigger an event.
- Once you arrive in your new nightmare, there’ll be a lamp you can light to travel back and forth from both nightmares.

Details for Patch 1.07
With this newest Bloodborne patch, you’ll be able to join “The League” which’ll introduce new NPCs to the game. You’ll presumably have to meet with the majestic-looking hunter with the bucket for a helmet – rather reminiscent of Solaire. His name is Summon Master Valtr and you’ll obtain the “Impurity Rune” from him. Once you’ve got it in your inventory, go to the Forbidden Forest and make your way to the little shack to the right of the first lamp, where you’ll summon him. Voila – you’ll be able to access the ranking screens. Once you’ve completed a coop mission you’ll receive the “Vermin” which you have to crush in order to climb the rankings.
There will be the option to summon some cool new NPCs to aid you in battle – even in the Chalice Dungeons. In order to do so, you’ll need to grab the “Old Hunter Bell” from the messengers in the Hunter’s Dream.
A useful little effect is also coming to the game too:
“In addition, when there are players near you that have used the Beckoning Bell or Small Resonant Bell and are waiting to join a coop session, they will appear in your game as an illusion or phantom with a ripple effect at their feet. That assumes they are within the correct level range and would be able to match with you.”
All in all, the Old Hunters DLC and newest patch is going to bring some exciting changes to Bloodborne. We can’t wait to try them out! For the original blog post click here and make sure to keep following GameSpew for all the latest on Bloodborne.
