“Oh what a day – what a lovely day!” is what I want to call from rooftops as we’ve finally been given a release date for Rise of the Tomb Raider on Steam and Windows.
For those of you who have all the consoles and don’t know anything of exclusives and timed exclusives you’re one of the few lucky folks. As for the rest of us non-Xbox players we’ve had to wait eagerly for whispers in the East to tell us when we can sink our teeth into the delicious game. Sadly, PlayStation is still a year off their release but for we PC players the news comes with bells and a marching band.
We have the wonderful partnership between Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics to thank for this considering there was speculation it wouldn’t be released to PC until later March/April at the earliest. But it’s released onto Steam on 28 January 2016 – that’s three weeks and one day away to those of us who will be counting down the hours. We can pre-purchase the game as per usual; a standard edition at £39.99, which gives you access to Lara’s “Remnant” outfit (gives the ability to heal without bandages) and other juicy little bonuses. A digital deluxe edition is also offered at £59.98 which includes the base game and the season pass (includes extended first person campaigns, etc), and a steady stream of outfits, weapons and Expedition Cards over four months. Exciting, right?
So come the end of the month our patience will hopefully have paid off and, if you’re like me and have been avoiding Tomb Raider news like the plague, at long last we can return to certain corners of the internet. If I disappear from social media between the 28th and the 31st, don’t worry. I’ll be raiding tombs with my girl Lara.
