Top 10 Horror Games That’ll Scare The Pants Off You
2. P.T.
Stealth-released on the PSN store with no prior warning, no-one was prepared for the terrifying horror that P.T. delivered, or the surprise Silent Hills game reveal awarded upon its completion. Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima certainly created something special with P.T that many are now trying to replicate with varying degrees of success.
Now unavailable to download, thanks to Konami withdrawing the demo after pulling the plug on the project, P.T. was a game that genuinely got under your skin. Filling you with a sense of dread and sometimes even making you question your own sanity, completing it was an arduous task due to the randomness of events, and even now people discuss theories regarding its mystifying final puzzle on internet forums.
P.T. may be gone, but it’ll never be forgotten. Titles like the upcoming Allison Road and Layers of Fear will always remind us of the effect it has had on the industry.
1. Affected
So, we thought things couldn’t get much scarier than P.T…. How wrong we were.
Affected is a first person horror game made exclusively for virtual reality, and trust us, it truly is the scariest thing you can currently play.
Effectively a walking simulator with jump-scares and an unrivalled sense of foreboding and dread, Affected offers three environments for you to terrify yourself in: a carnival, a haunted mansion and a hospital. No matter which one you choose however, the result will be the same: you’ll sweat, jump and scream as objects move, strange noises ring out and ghastly beings jump out on you.
Currently free to download via the Oculus Share program, anyone with a compatible headset and a strong constitution is urged to give Affected a go. It’s certainly convinced us that virtual reality deserves a place in the video games of tomorrow.
