Edmund McMillen, developer of The Binding of Isaac and co-creator of Super Meat Boy has announced his new game: The Legend of Bum-bo. The game has been in development for several months and is being developed alongside James Id (who co-created Fingered! last year) along with Matthias Bossi and Jon Evans composing the soundtrack. Bossi and Evans have previously worked with McMillen composing the soundtrack for The Binding of Isaac‘s two expansions Rebirth and Afterbirth.
The Legend of Bum-bo is described as a “turn based puzzle RPG type thingy thats randomly generated.” McMillen – who released the information on The Binding of Issac blog – has hinted that The Legend of Bum-bo will tie-in some way to The Binding of Isaac and promises more information to come in the coming months.
McMillen had another game in development, Mew-Genics, with fellow Super Meat Boy developer Tommy Refenes first announced over two years ago. Unfortunately, it looks like the “cat-lady simulator” is on hold indefinitely after McMillen contacted Eurogamer on the matter: “I’m unsure of its future but there is a chance we will attempt to revamp it in a few years with a new design of mine that will push it in a new direction that will hopefully make it more exciting for both of us to work on.”
