Which starter will you choose in Pokémon Sun and Moon?

An owl with a leaf bow-tie, a friendly looking seal and a nonplussed fire cat.

Usually I’m one to go for water types. Every single Pokémon game I’ve played, I’ve started with a water type. There’s no real reason behind it, they’re usually the most adorable to me – and that’s the most important thing. So, having seen the new Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer and witnessed the latest starters, I can’t believe I’m going to say this and break tradition, “nonplussed cat, I choose you.” Although the seal (Popplio) looks extremely happy and I want to squeeze his nose, and the owl (Rowlet) is so round that I just want to hug him and never let go. I can’t pass up the opportunity to shout “It’s Lit-ten!” every time I call upon my fiery, independent feline (even after it’s evolved). No shame.

It also looks like we’re heading to the sunny Alola region. Inspired by Hawaii, it’s the first time a Pokémon game has been set in such an exotic location. Professor Oak looks to have let himself go, and rightly so, Alola looks relaxing and gorgeous. With a mixture of palm trees, huts and beaches, there’s also a bustling city too by the looks of things.

Right at the end of the trailer we also get a good look at the new legendary Pokémon. Sun has a majestic lion, whilst Moon has an ‘alien-bat’ creature. Both are still shrouded in mystery but the release date isn’t. We’ll be getting the game in November and I’m sure there’ll be more information flooding in over the next few months.

What are your thoughts on the starters? Which one would you choose? And if you have any other thoughts on the latest Pokémon, let us know in the comments down below!

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be released on 18 November for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS.
