Mount & Blade: Warband gets Console Release Trailer

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will finally get to experience Mount & Blade: Warband when it releases next week, September 16. While the console release is a little late with the action RPG originally releasing back in 2010 you shouldn’t worry too much. The acclaimed medieval simulator has consistently been one of the most played games on Steam even six years after its release.

Mount & Blade: Warband takes place in the Kingdom of Calradia where six factions rule and each are vying for power. The game is a sandbox and allows you to do pretty much what you want – there is no campaign or main questline. You can choose to join one of the factions, become a pillaging mercenary or begin your own Kingdom and attempt to rule Calradia. Freedom of choice is Warband’s forte but the its true outstanding feature is its battle’s and combat system.

As you make your way in Calradia, you recruit troops from villages, each belonging to the various factions. As they level up different factions fight in different ways – Swadian’s excel at cavalry whereas the Khergit’s own the sole horse archers. The combat itself is incredibly good, using a system where you can attack and block in four directions, making combat a battle of tactics and skill.

If you can’t tell already I am a rather big fan of Mount & Blade: Warband. Its uniqueness and great modding capabilties have given it incredible staying power on PC and while mods will not be available on console the still great base experience will be.

Mount & Blade: Warband will be available on PS4 and Xbox One September 16 for £14.99.
