The much anticipated indie game Cuphead has been delayed to mid-2017. The title was originally planned to be released sometime later this year but Studio MDHR wants more time “in order to ship with our vision intact.”
Cuphead has been a long awaited release for PC and Xbox One. The game’s entire art-style – which is absolutely beautiful – is drawn in the style of 1930’s cartoons. And it seems that long since the game was first announced. Originally shown off almost three years ago, Cuphead has been in development since 2010 – and recent delays may be due to change in gameplay focus.
When the title was first being shown off, Studio MDHR described it as a “boss-rush” game however as time went on the team has attempted to add in platforming sections in-between. While not confirmed, the recent delay may be due, in-part, to a poor reception of the platforming mechanics.
Whatever comes of Cuphead, when it hopefully releases sometime next year, it’ll be a joy to look at – but will it be a joy to play?
Ruaraidh DempsterRuaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
