Uncharted movie finds a new director

Video game movies rarely have much luck – the supposed adaption of the Uncharted series being the most prolific. The film has been “in development” since late 2007 and once, long ago, had been set for a 2016 release – seems everything gets delayed.

So will 2016 be the year that the movie actually starts moving along? Sony Pictures is hoping so as Shawn Levy has just been picked up as the movie’s director. Levy has previously directed films such as the Night at the Museum franchise, Real Steel and Date Night. It’s not the most stirring of resume’s but he did also work and direct two episodes of the recent Stranger Things on Netflix – and is set to direct some of season 2.

Whatever the case it looks like Uncharted may be officially on the way. After suffering through five screenwriters – including American Hustle’s David O. Russell – it was announced back in July that Joe Carnahan had penned the movies first script. Carnahan has previously wrote films such as The Grey and The A-Team.
