Game Dev Tycoon Developer Announcing New Game Next Week

Greenheart Games, the developer behind 2012’s Game Dev Tycoon, will be announcing their new project next week. While it will not be a sequel to their previous game, Greenheart have confirmed it will be a simulation game “in the vein of Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper and Startopia.”
Patrick Klug – one of the brothers that makes up the studio – has stated that while they will be announcing the new game next week, “it won’t be release-ready for a while yet.” Along with taking inspiration from older simulation games, Greenheart are promising “neat modern innovations, a dash of base building, a spicy crafting system, and a generous dose of humor, all layered over our new hand-crafted, honey-glazed artstyle.”
Game Dev Tycoon received particular attention during its release due to a unique anti-piracy method within the game. As you would guess from the game’s title you take on the role of a video game developer. In an effort to show how dangerous pirating can be to small independent studios, Klug uploaded a pirated version of the game himself to torrent websites. When playing, users who had downloaded the pirated version eventually went out of business due to, you guessed it, people pirating their games.
