Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun, an isometric real-time strategy game, releases today and just received its launch trailer. Described as a “hardcore tactical stealth” game, it takes place in Japan during the Edo period – so yes, Ninja’s and Samurai.
You play as one of five completely different characters, each with their own unique moveset, strengths and weaknesses. Some particularly fun ones include the street child, Yuki, who uses traps and decoys to confuse and kill enemies and Aiko, a master of camouflage who can disguise as a Geisha to take out foes.
Unlike many isometric games, mobility and flexibility is a large part of the experience. Many agile characters can hop on-and-off of rooftops, as well as jump between buildings to stay out of sight. Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun also delivers visually with a rather vibrant art-style. And, as its always nice to see, a demo is available if you want to try before you buy.
Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun is available now for GOG and Steam.
