The sixth movie in the Alien series is set to arrive later this year – and will be accompanied by a Virtual Reality game. The title itself has no set release date but will most likely appear sometime around Alien: Covenant’s May 19 release date.
The project will be developed by The Fox Innovation Lab in collaboration with film-director Ridley Scott. The studio has described the game as “a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe”. Fox Innovation Lab previously created The Martian VR Experience, a co-project to 2015’s The Martian – also directed by Ridley Scott.
The game did however release to poor reviews; criticised for boring puzzle sequences, limited interactivity and half the 40-minute experience being shots from the movie itself. While Fox Innovation Lab are attempting to make their next release sound as promising as possible, “Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death,” we’re going to have to wait and find out whether this be another Alien: Isolation – or Alien: Colonial Marines.
