Assassin’s Creed Getting A TV Series; Possibly On Netflix

There have been rumours swirling around for awhile now, but Assassin’s Creed is indeed getting a TV series adaption. Confirmation came from Aymar Azaïzia, Ubisoft’s Head of Content, during an AMA on Reddit earlier this week.

While the series is yet to be formally announced, it wouldn’t be surprising that this was related to talks Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was having with Netflix last year. The series, which is by-and-far one of the company’s most successful, has already received numerous adaptions into many other forms: including comics, books and, most recently, a movie.

The series would presumably be handled by Ubisoft’s own film and TV division. Last year’s movie, along with a Rabbids Invasion TV show on Nickelodeon, were both handled by the division (excuse the pun).

Azaïzia told fans that “we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of”. Elsewhere, he also commented on an apparent leaked photo of the rumoured Assassin’s Creed sequel, Empire. In response to the question, he simply stated: “Not AC :)”

If the TV series does come to light, would you be willing to watch it? Or has the recent movie dampened any expectations?

Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
