Totally True Gaming News Round-Up: Insomniac Games Becomes Nap-Time Interactive, the Nintendo Switch’s Shocking Secret and More

Welcome to GameSpew’s Totally True Gaming News Round-Up, dramatically over-delivering gaming news since 1987.
This week saw the revelation that Red Dead Redemption 2, the long-awaited sequel to the original open-world western will be receiving a thing next week. The thing may be a big thing, or a small thing, or perhaps even a teaser for another thing. But what other things have been happening in the world of gaming? Things that are entirely true and definitely not exaggerated, skewed or entirely made up? Read on and find out.
Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite DLC to include Evil Squirrel Girl
Mere days have passed since the release of Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite. So it’s par for the course that Capcom have started promoting a range of additional paid fighters to add to the game’s anaemic fighting roster. The fighters thus revealed are:
- Bagel Cop
- Zombie Stan Lee
- Captain Chafing
- Evil Squirrel Girl
- Anatomically Improbable Pose Woman
- That One Guy From Guile’s Street Fighter 2 Stage That’s Cheering But If You Squint It Looks A Bit Like He’s Doing Something That He Really Shouldn’t Be Doing In Public
Aside from these new fighters, Capcom are also going to be releasing three additional stages; Raccoon City Thrift Store, Disappointing Comic Convention and The Uncanny Valley.
Hackers say they’ve discovered Satoru Iwata’s consciousness hidden within the Nintendo Switch
Hackers probing the Nintendo Switch say they have discovered the fragmented consciousness of the late and much loved Satoru Iwata, hidden deep within the console. The former president of Nintendo, Iwata passed away in 2015, leading many industry figures to lament his loss.
Nintendo have yet to comment on the hackers’ discovery, but it’s been suggested that when technology is sufficiently advanced, Iwata’s essence will be pieced back together. He will be then be restored to life to delight a whole new generation of gamers.
Insomniac Games to be re-named Nap-Time Interactive
Insomniac Games, the company behind Ratchet and Clank and other titles, has this week stated that it’ll be changing its name to Nap-Time Interactive as it’s finally managed to get some sleep. Lead developer Will Simons explains:
“We honestly had no idea why the team was finding it so hard to get to sleep. It wasn’t that we wanted to stay up, either; we’d go to our respective homes and get maybe one or two hours rest at most. It went on that way for years until one of our team’s mums came to visit and threw a fit when she had to wade through a sea of empty Red Bull cans.
She made us clean them up, and, after she spoke with other team members’ parents, we’re not allowed to go anywhere near an energy drink again. We honestly hadn’t realised our high taurine intake was responsible for keeping us up. But after a couple of days going cold turkey, it’s become a lot easier to get to sleep, hence the new name.
We were worried at first that, now were getting a proper rest, we’d be less productive. But the truth is that prior to kicking the energy drinks, we’d only get maybe four hours of actual work done. We spent the rest of the time running away from sleep-deprivation induced hallucinations. I lost a whole week’s work once after setting fire to my PC because I thought it was trying to eat my face.”
The Sandman was unavailable for comment.
And that’s this week’s news about things. Predictions for next week: Vampyr delayed till the next total solar eclipse, Minecraft receives a Atari Jaguar cross-play update and Joe Versus The Volcano: The Game hits Steam.
