Remember Call of Juarez: Gunslinger? It was pretty good, and soon, you might possibly be able to play it on Xbox One and PS4.
Keen eyed Resetera user derFeef noticed that the Call of Juarez Facebook page recently had its profile image updated with the Call of Juarez: Gunslinger logo. Then it had its header image changed to a picture of the game’s protagonist, Silas Greaves, along with the text “Legends Never Die”. Finally, a post was made which stated “I haven’t been here in many years. Name’s Silas Greaves.”
The updates have spurred many on to believe that there’s possibly a remaster in the works. It seemed logical enough. While a closer look at the Call of Juarez Facebook page reveals that it is described as a fan page, it was made way back in 2006, before it was so easy to create a page just about anything. Also, it’s liked by both Ubisoft and Techland, who published and developed the Call of Juarez games respectively. As such, we think there might indeed be something to the sudden updating of it.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Call of Juarez: The Cartel were recently added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, a move possibly made to create more interest around the series. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is also playable on Xbox One if you already own it, but it is no longer available to buy.
Delisted from both the PlayStation and Xbox stores earlier this year following a reported dispute between Ubisoft and Techland, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is now published by Techland on Steam. The game’s Xbox.com listing has also been updated to show that it is now published by Techland. So, is it getting remastered or will it simply return to the PlayStation and Xbox storefronts with its new publisher? Only time will tell, but we have a hunch that we’ll be hearing more about the game soon.
