We know it’s unlikely that you’ve exhausted all the content that Final Fantasy XIV has to offer, but if you have, be happy in the knowledge that the game’s next expansion, Shadowbringers, launches today.
Shadowbringers takes players beyond the world of Hydaelyn for the first time, allowing them to visit Norvrandt in the First World. And what do you aim to do there? Become Warriors of Darkness, apparently, which is necessary to combat the forces of Light that are threatening to destroy the realm.
The expansion introduces a wealth of new features including the Gunbreaker and Dancer jobs, Viera and Hrothgar races, a level cap increase, and a new trust system. There are also new Beast Tribes and Primals, as well as battle system changes, new gear, new crafting recipes and more.
Looking ahead, the content set to be added via several upcoming patches has been announced too. It includes a new alliance raid called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, which has been written by Yosuke Saito and Yoko taro, and a new high-end raid called Eden which features a new character designed by Tetsuya Nomura. New Game + functionality will also be added, as well as high-end content for Disciples of the Hand and Land.
If you’re not at a point where you can access the new Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers expansion yet and are impatient, there are several types of items you can now buy to expedite the process. You can view them via the Final Fantasy XIV website. Why not watch the launch trailer below before forking out the cash though?
