One of the greatest elements of Call of Duty: Warzone’s gameplay is the cornucopia of weapons it has available to use.
But with so much choice, and extensive customisation options for each individual weapon, it can be very hard to figure out what the best weapons in Warzone are.
But don’t worry! We played hundreds of hours of the game, so you don’t have to. Below, we’ve picked out the five best weapons to use in Call of Duty: Warzone. Please note, these are based on personal preference, so some options may be controversial!
Assault Rifle: Grau 5.56
Before the recent Warzone patch, the Grau would indisputably be the best weapon in the game. It’s an Assault Rifle with an incredible range, damage output, and a disgusting lack of recoil. However, a recent patch has dialled down the Grau somewhat, particularly its long range damage capability. But it’s still a devastating weapon at short and medium range, so it still makes the top five list in our view.
LMG: Synthetic Dreams
The Synthetic Dreams is a new, Rare blueprinted LMG. It has a 60-round magazine capacity, which is slightly smaller than most LMGs, but it makes up for it with high damage levels, very good range, and probably the fastest reload speed of any LMG in the Warzone. Its only disadvantage is that it doesn’t have a scope. This weapon can only be “found” during Battle Royale matches, but if you can pick it up, you’ll have little need of your loadout drop!
There used to be a Legendary blueprinted SMG called The Mud Dauber, and it was probably the best weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone. Unfortunately, that beautiful weapon no longer exists, as it was removed with the latest patch. However, the Mud Dauber was based on an MP7 and you can more-or-less recreate its wonder.
Simply attach a medium-range scope, high-capacity magazines, and the Frangible-Wounding perk (which slows enemy health regeneration) to an MP7 and you have yourself a powerhouse SMG with very high damage and staying power, ideal for medium and CQB engagements.
There are two LMGs on this top five list, but with good reason: LMGs are insanely underrated and some of the most powerful weapons in the game. The M91 has a 100-round ammo capacity, which is more than enough to take down an entire team of four, or keep an enemy pinned for a good thirty seconds as the gas rolls toward them…
It has incredible damage too, even over long range; ten well-placed bullets will down an enemy no problem. Its only disadvantages are its slightly slower aim-down-sight speed, and painfully slow reload speed. However, the latter can be mitigated at higher levels by unlocking the Sleight of Hand perk.
Marksman Rifle: MK2 Carbine
Okay, this one is very controversial, but hear us out! The MK2 Carbine is a semi-automatic repeater marksman rifle. It’s one step down from a fully-fledged sniper rifle. It does similar damage to the AX50 or the Kar98k, and its only disadvantage is that it has a slightly shorter range. However, it makes up for this with a much higher rate of fire. You can essentially lay down rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. This means that in medium range engagements, you can shred enemies in a salvo of high-calibre rounds.
The MK2 Carbine also gives you an advantage during sniper battles in Warzone; you can trick enemies into peeking – they’ll think you can’t shoot again, not realising the MK2 has such a high rate of fire. One body-shot cracks armour, and a headshot is an instant down. This is probably the most underrated weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone. And if you attach a scope to it, then it becomes a weapon of mass destruction.
We also recommend attaching upgrades that reduce its recoil, to enhance accuracy. The only instance this gun is not effective is at point-blank range. If you are engaged in a close-quarters battle or you’re assaulting a building, it’s probably best to switch to another weapon. But in medium and long range engagements, this weapon is by far the best in the game.
Bonus item – Lethal Grenade: C4
We thought we’d give one last bonus recommendation to help you get the best out of the weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone! C4 is one of the most versatile and useful pieces of equipment in the game. You can throw it onto walls, doors, or other surfaces to act as a booby-trap, which is great for when you’re hunkering down. It can be activated by double-tapping the reload button, and if you don’t end up using the C4, you can pick it up off the floor to use another time.
You can also use C4 to destroy vehicles in Warzone; it will take down pretty much any vehicle in one blast. You can even throw it to detonate in midair, using it like a grenade. We recommend supporting whatever primary and secondary weapon choices you make with some good old plastic explosive!
Remember, more important than finding the ‘best’ weapons in Warzone is finding the right one for you. Every player approaches Warzone differently, and utilises different strategies for winning. As such, the true “best” approach is to find the tools most appropriate for the play style you enjoy. If you like to play stealthy and stabby, there’s no shame taking a combat knife and smoke grenade. Play the way that works for you, and find the weapons that match your play style, and you’ll go far!
