Check Out The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood’s Cinematic Trailer

The Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda has released a cinematic trailer teasing the The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, Online’s next expansion pack and it’s certainly dramatic.

Dagon is back! No, not that one, I’m talking about Mehrunes Dagon, the otherworldly entity whose creator didn’t have some very suspect views. The appearance of this colossal, multi-armed, Daedric prince doesn’t bode well for the stars of this teaser. They interrupt a demonic ritual just so they can ‘borrow’ a book and next thing you know they’re in a realm where the design choices are ‘lava’ or ‘slightly less lava’.

Blackwood actually takes place 800 years before Mehrunes Dagon bothered Sean Bean in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and promises to introduce more than 30 hours of new content including new monsters, locations and more. It kicks off a year-long “Gates of Oblivion” event, hence the teaser’s title.

It will also introduce companions who, while being a regular fixture in most Elder Scrolls games, have yet to make their debut in Online.

It’s the addition of companions, in fact, that has us most intrigued; we’re hoping you’ll be able to actually order them to stand their ground, sniping at enemies while you deal some up close damage. We really don’t want another Lydia, Skyrim’s housecarl who had the uncanny ability to set off every trap within five miles.

You can watch the trailer below and, provided you’ve already got the main game, you can play The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood when it arrives on PC June 1st and on consoles June 8th.

Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
