Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is just over a month away and, to whet your appetite/fill you with mortal terror, Capcom has unveiled three new beasties.
Arriving on Nintendo Switch and PC, Sunbreak is an expansion pack for Monster Hunter Rise introducing new monsters for you to, as the title suggests, hunt. Actually, “new” might be pushing it, since these are variants of monsters that have previously cropped up in the series or even Rise itself. But if you’ve not tackled them before they should give you a run for your money.
The three monsters unveiled at the May event were Flying Wyvern Seregios, Aurora Somnacanth and Magma Almudron. The Seregios monster is new to Monster Hunter Rise, but the game already contains Somnacanth and Almudron so you’re getting bigger, tougher versions of these beasts.
On top of that, Capcom also shed further light on a previously revealed big bad, Elder Dragon Malzeno, a beast that can use vampiric parasites to drain you of your energy. It’s probably a good thing that there are followers to help you; Sunbreak will also see you completing quests to strengthen your bond with those NPCs.
Sunbreak requires the original version of Monster Hunter Rise, as you might expect and, aside from new monsters, adds new hunting locales and more. You can cast your eyes over Capcom’s full broadcast here, but if Monster Hunter Rise has left you craving more, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak could be right up your street.
We say could, because it’s not cheap. It’s priced at £35.99 on Nintendo Switch and £32.99 on PC, but given that’s over half the price of the main game, you might want to think about how much more Monster Hunting is worth.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will arrive this June 30th on PC and Nintendo Switch.
