We’ve been waiting years for a new Silent Hill game, and very soon we’re getting one in the form of Ascension.
Silent Hill: Ascension may not be entirely what we were expecting, but we’ll reserve judgement until we actually see what it’s like. You see, rather than be your typical video game, Ascension is more of an interactive TV series. Content will be released daily that progresses the story, and viewers will be able to interact in order to determine the outcomes of various events. These choices and outcomes will then apparently be combined in weekly episodes, with developer Genvid Technologies planning to run the series for six months.
The questions is, will it be able to hold viewers’ attention for such an amount of time? And will those who tune in be sensible or purposefully make ridiculous choices and actions? We shall see. In any case, it’s a novel idea that has potential. And the latest trailer for Silent Hill: Ascension, which you can view below, gives the impression of a suitably dark tale.
Those wanting to partake in Silent Hill: Ascension can do so via an app available on both iOS and Android devices. Pre-registration is available now, for free. Alternatively, viewers will also be able to tune in via the web. All they have to do is visit Ascension.com.
The series starts on 31st October, at 9pm ET/ 6pm PT. Unfortunately, that means those of us in the UK will have to stay up until 2am to watch.
