Come down from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with the incredibly mellow Chocobo & Chill II album

If Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has left you shaken, then Chocobo & Chill II is the perfect way to come down. Well, at least until the final chapter in the trilogy drops, but you’ll probably have a few years to prepare yourself for that.

Chocobo & Chill II is a mellow album of sixteen Final Fantasy themes, featuring chilled-out takes on tunes from across the whole series. Out on the Game Chops label, it’s the work of composer Rifti, a follow-up to his previous album, Chocobo & Chill. And it’s every bit as chill as the title suggests.

We’ve had a listen and come away suitably impressed – and relaxed. The album features music from Final Fantasy IV all the way through to Final Fantasy X, all in a suitably lo-fi style. Rifti has even taken tracks that are already pretty chilled-out, like Final Fantasy XIV’s Sultana Dreaming and, somehow, made them even more laid back. As for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16, there’s always hope for a Chocobo & Chill III.

Here’s every track awaiting you on Chocobo & Chill:

  1. Ahead on Our Way (Final Fantasy VII)
  2. Beside Island (Final Fantasy X)
  3. Cosmo Canyon (Final Fantasy VII)
  4. Holding My Thoughts in My Heart (Final Fantasy VII)
  5. The Place I’ll Return to Someday (Final Fantasy IX)
  6. Someday the Dream Will End (Final Fantasy X)
  7. Fisherman’s Horizon (Final Fantasy VIII)
  8. Sultana Dreaming (Final Fantasy XIV)
  9. Theme of Love (Final Fantasy IV)
  10. Vivi’s Theme (Final Fantasy IX)
  11. Ronfaure (Final Fantasy XI)
  12. Gold Saucer (Final Fantasy VII)
  13. The Decisive Battle (Final Fantasy VI)
  14. Victory Fanfare II (Final Fantasy series)
  15. Somnus (Final Fantasy XV)
  16. Final Fantasy Lofi (“Main Theme” from Final Fantasy series)

You can also get a taste of the full album, thanks to GameChops’ YouTube Channel. We were initially a little surprised that they put the full album on YouTube. But, let’s face it, there are so many full albums just sitting around on YouTube that, chances are, someone else would have.

So if, after a listen, Chocobo & Chill II, proves to be your jam, head over to GameChops’ official album page. It’s available digitally across multiple streaming services and stores, including Amazon, Beatport, Spotify and more.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
