Fortnite’s latest trailer unveils Peely Wolverine and we need them now

Peely Wolverine in Fortnite, a banana dressed as Wolverine.

Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 4 Absolute Doom trailer, released as part of Disney’s D23 event, has revealed the long-awaited addition of Peely Wolverine, or Peelverine.

There are plenty of other things happening too, with heroes from across the Marvel Universe going head to head. You’ve got Doctor Doom recruiting Mysterio, Cyclops shaking hands with a Jonesy Captain America and more.

And while it’s unconfirmed by Epic Games, chances are most of these skins will be available during the season. That includes Gwenpool, a Marvel hero who, more so than even Deadpool, is aware she’s in a comic.

But it’s Fortnite’s Peely Wolverine that’s got us excited, enough to dive back into Fortnite after a long absence. This amazingly ridiculous skin transforms you into a giant, sentient banana who, in turn, is dressed as Marvel’s Wolverine. We don’t care if we win or lose, just as long as we can run around in this get up.

This isn’t, however, the first time Peely Wolverine has appeared in Fortnite. There was a throwaway gag in a previous Fortnite trailer, a couple of years ago, which had Peely copying Wolverine, popping their ‘banana claws’. Since then, fans have been praying and hoping for the character to become a reality and now they’re here.

There is one catch, though. Price-wise, you can expect Peely Wolverine to cost in the region of 2,000 V-Bucks for the full outfit, emotes and all, which is around £16 in real money. Do we love Peelverine? Absolutely. Do we love them enough to spend that kind of cash on one outfit? We’ll have to get back to you on that one.

Epic has yet to confirm precisely when Peely Wolverine will be coming to Fortnite, but the season is expected to begin on or around August 16th.
