Silent Hill 2 dev Bloober Team has already announced its next horror game — and it looks fantastic

It seems Bloober Team isn’t resting on its laurels after the success of this month’s Silent Hill 2. It has already announced its next game: a sci-fi survival horror called Cronos: The New Dawn. And while the three minute-long trailer only gave us the tiniest glimpse of gameplay, it’s safe to say that we’re absolutely intrigued to see more.

Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person over-the-shoulder survival horror game. It’s set in 1980s Poland, but with a “twisted time travel story”, it’s safe to say that you can expect multiple timelines and environments to explore, all with the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world.

You’ll play as a ‘Traveler’, an agent of a company known as The Collective. Wearing a space suit of sorts, it appears you’re travelling from another time. According to the press release, you have a mission to “extract selected people who didn’t survive the apocalypse from the past”. While that’s a little hard to wrap our head around, it sounds fascinating.

As an agent of The Collective, you’ll need to explore and survive in a deadly wasteland. Thanks to an apocalyptic event, it’s filled with monstrous creatures, which you’ll need to fend off and test your combat skills against.

This isn’t the only game Bloober Team has in development, either. It’s also working on Project M, a title for Nintendo Switch, and Project R, a project in partnership with Skybound Entertainment.

There was also a Project C, in partnership with Private Division — but the publisher cancelled the project back in May. At the time, Bloober Team said it was “prepared for potential alternatives”, and so we’re wondering if Project C is actually Cronos: The New Dawn, now being self-published by Bloober. We’ve reached out to PR for confirmation, and will update if we hear back.

Update: Bloober’s PR team have indeed confirmed that Project C and Cronos: The New Dawn are one and the same.

Cronos: The New Dawn doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it’s set for launch at some point in 2025. It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
