Could Bloober Team be working on a new Walking Dead game?

Last week, Bloober Team shared its annual financials, along with a look at what’s ahead. We already know the company is set to release the Silent Hill 2 remake at some point this year, but it has revealed details about a number of other games it is working on, too.
The report from Bloober has been published in Polish but Twitter/X user pl_evil has translated key snippets. “Project C” is a survival horror game being made in conjunction with Private Division/Take-Two Interactive, and “Project M” is a game for Nintendo platforms made in conjunction with Draw Distance.
The most interesting snippet of information, however, is “Project R”, a game due out in 2025 and is based on a Skybound IP. Skybound is the company owned by Robert Kirkman, creator of the Walking Dead. And so… could Project R actually be a new Walking Dead game?
Yes, we are just guessing here. Skybound has worked on lots of different properties in the last few years, but very few of those are horror-based. It’s entirely possible that Bloober Team may do something outside of traditional horror, but given the company’s track record, it feels unlikely — and if we’re looking solely at Robert Kirkman’s horror-based properties, it leaves us with Outcast and The Walking Dead.
It could be something else entirely, but we can’t help but get a little excited about the idea of a Walking Dead game that has the potential to actually be good. It’s such a huge, rich IP that remains largely untapped in terms of video games. We’ve had a few decent VR games, sure, but ‘flat’ games based on the IP have either been mobile cash-ins or hugely disappointing.
Until Bloober team officially announces Project R (Project Rick?!), however, we can only speculate. Whatever it turns out to be, we’re glad that Bloober continues to work on noteworthy properties, and we’re keen to find out more.
