Released last year, Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 was brilliant. It built upon the original in many ways, but was also respectful of it, resulting in a game that pleased both existing fans and newcomers in equal measure. “Bloober Team has achieved what some thought was impossible,” we said in our Silent Hill 2 review. “It has taken the horror classic Silent Hill 2 and made it even better. This is a phenomenal remake that remains faithful to the original while adding new content and features that elevate the overall experience.”

It’s proved to be a commercial success, too. Over two million copies have been sold since launch, making it one of the best-selling entries in the series. And so it should perhaps come as no surprise that Bloober Team and Konami have announced that they’re working together on another joint project.

Details about the next joint project between Bloober Team and Konami are understandably scant right now. What we do know, however, is that it will once again be using Konami’s IP. Needless to say, given the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, chances are the project will either be a remake of another Silent Hill game, or perhaps a brand new entry in the series. To be honest, we don’t know what we’d prefer.

It’s not necessarily another Silent Hill game, though. It’s unlikely, given the studio’s previous works, but let’s not completely discount the possibility that Bloober Team could be working on IP such as Castlevania, Metal Gear or even Suikoden. But, being the self-proclaimed ‘Polish masters of horror’, we’d put money on something Silent Hill-related. In any case, with Bloober Team currently working on multiple projects including the promising-looking Cronos: The New Dawn, chances are it won’t be released anytime soon.

Not that it matters too much; there are two other Silent Hill projects we know of on the way, after all. Silent Hill f was recently rated in South Korea which suggests it’s not all that far away, and then there’s Silent Hill Townfall which we’ll hopefully hear more about soon. With a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2 on the way as well, it’s a good time to be a Silent Hill fan.
