Sonic the Hedgehog is getting an arcade machine, thanks to My Arcade

Thanks to My Arcade, you can now buy your very own Sonic the Hedgehog arcade machine. Alright, it’s a small arcade machine – a portable desktop-sized machine. But it’s still Sonic, and even if it’s not full cabinet-sized, we’ll take it.

My Arcade has announced two Sonic the Hedgehog-themed devices: a Mighty Player and a Joystick Player. The Mighty Player is the more premium of the two devices. It features four games: Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic Spinball and Sonic 3D Blast, and comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to five hours. The device itself has a full wood construction and a high-res 3.5-inch full-colour screen. The downside? It has a price tag of $119.99.

If that sounds a bit too steep for you, that’s where the Sonic the Hedgehog Joystick Player comes in. With a price tag of $59.99, this is the budget option of the pair. It’s a little smaller than the Mighty Player, as you can see in the photo atop this article, but it still features a 3.5-inch screen. It only has two games (Sonic and Sonic 2), and its button/joystick layout is a little different, with the joystick taking centre stage. There’s no rechargeable battery here, either: you’ll need to load in 4x AA batteries, or connect to a power source via USB-C.

Still, we love the look of both devices, and if you’re a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, we think one of these is going to look fantastic on your desk. Both are available to order now from leading retailers, including Amazon.
