An Xbox Developer Direct is incoming on 22 January
You’re going to want to put 22nd January in your diary, because an Xbox Developer Direct is on the cards. It will offer up 2026’s first look at what first party Xbox games we have to look forward to this year, along with news from other games coming to the console.
Excitingly, we alraedy know that the Developer Direct will offer up a look at gameplay from both Fable and Forza Horizon 6. Two games that perhaps couldn’t be more different, and yet both somehow come from Playground Games.
The long-awaited Forza Horizon 6 sees the open-world arcade racer take us to Japan. We’ll get to see gameplay from the title, a look at how the developer is bringing Japan to life, as well as a first reveal of some brand new features.
Fable feels like it has been in development for years, but with a 2026 release window, it’s finally within our sights. This first in-depth look at the medieval RPG will take us back to the magical land of Albion, revealing new gameplay, Fable’s core choice/consequence system, and plenty of British humour.
We’ll also get to take a look at gameplay of Beast of Reincarnation, an upcoming action RPG from Game Freak that was revealed at last year’s Xbox Games Showcase. We’ll meet protagonist Emma, get to see gameplay with her canine companion, Koo, and experience the game’s unique ‘plant maniupulation’ mechanics.
Anything else to be shown off during the Developer Direct has yet to be revealed, but it’s safe to say that these three titles will remain the focus. It’ll be streamed at 6pm GMT / 1pm ET / 10am PT on 22nd January, and you’ll be able to watch on Xbox’s official YouTube channel.
