Samson: A Tyndalston Story is looking like it could be a top-tier action game

There are lots of things I like in video games, but two of them are brutal fist fights and reckless driving. It’s perhaps for that reason that I’m drawn to Samson: A Tyndalston Story, the debut title by Liquid Swords, a studio founded by Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg. You only have to watch the game’s latest trailer to gather that it’s going to have plenty of both.
It sounds like Samson: A Tyndalston Story could be how I’d like more games to be these days, to be honest. Forget about the expansive sprawling worlds of the Just Cause series; this is a game that aims to distil the high-octane experiences that such games offer into something more succinct, refined and deliberate. Rather than scale, Liquid Swords appears to be going for depth, delivering a smaller world where your choices and actions have an actual impact.
As you make your way through Samson: A Tyndalston Story, then, you’ll have to think about which jobs you want to complete in order to pay off the debt you’ve accumulated. And with limited action points, there’s only so much you can do in one day. Even worse, with you given a daily quota to hit, if you fail to make it, interest will be accrued, making your goal even harder the next day. Throw in a law enforcement system that will no doubt introduce yet more complications should you cause too much trouble, and you’ve got your work cut out for you.
At the crux of it all, though, appears to a brutal and dynamic combat system, as well as the opportunity to use your vehicle as a weapon. Samson: A Tyndalston Story promises a game where you’ll be able to use your environment to your advantage, and develop the titular character into a force to be reckoned with. And if you need to pursue a target you can do so, with car chases hopefully proving to be as good as they look in the trailer.
There’s not long to wait for Samson: A Tyndalston Story either, as it launches on PC via Stam and Epic Games Store on 8th April. Plus, priced at just $24.99, it won’t break the bank. Check out the release date trailer below.
