Indie strategy RPG Tears of Adria gets a launch trailer… three years after launch

You’d expect a launch trailer on the day a game becomes available, right? Sometimes a week or two before. Maybe a week or two after, if the studio wants to wait for some nice quotes from press to add into their trailer. What you don’t expect is a launch trailer to arrive three years after a game. That’s the case with Tears of Adria. Despite launching in 2023, the game has only just received an official “launch” trailer.
OK, so technically it’s not a launch trailer at all. But the developer of Tears of Adria, Ark Island Studio, a small company from Sweden, never made a song and dance its game’s launch in 2023. As a result, Tears of Adria was met with silence.
“We made a game, released it on Steam, and waited for the public to discover it through instinct, divine intervention, or some minor clerical error in the algorithm,” Ark Island Studio’s co-founder, Jakob Köster, says. “This did not happen.”
It seems the team has taken some time away and, this year, is focusing on bringing attention back to Tears of Adria. The first patch in two years landed earlier this year, and along with the brand new trailer, the game is part of Steam’s current Games Made in Sweden sale, with a 66% discount.

Playable solo or with up to three others in co-op, Tears of Adria is an old-school RPG adventure combining real-time strategy and autobattles. It’s a game that rewards exploration, allows players to go wherever they want, with plenty of hidden paths and unique encounters to find. You’ll need to build up your strength in order to progress, perfecting your skills and gear, and paying attention to how they interact with each other.
Fancy supporting an indie developer finally get eyes on their game? Tears of Adria is available until 26th July for just £4/$4.75 – an absolute bargain.
