Chainers: The architecture of a living world

This is a paid partnership in collaboration with 51 Games.

Some games give you a list of tasks. The best ones give you a place where you can create, build your own world and keep coming back to it.

Chainers aims for the second option. It combines farming, crafting, merging, character growth, minigames and exploration inside a world that keeps opening up as you play. You start with a small farm, a few basic resources and plenty of empty space. Over time, that farm starts to feel like something you built rather than something the game handed to you.

And you can access all of it through a browser. No download, no long setup and no need to learn anything about blockchain before you begin. Open a tab, create an account and start planting.

The first session feels simple. The deeper game appears once your crops, animals, buildings and merging systems begin to work together. That move from a basic farm to a working world sits at the centre of Chainers.

Refugees, tyrants and a world worth building: The lore in brief

The Chainers came from Chainerys, a creative and successful civilisation that once stood for progress. Then Big Eye and his army of Perfects took control. They watched everyone, limited freedom and turned Chainerys into a cold, controlled world. The Chainers fought back, but staying meant risking the end of their whole civilisation. They escaped through ancient Portals and eventually reached Earth.

They arrived without their old home, but they kept their memories, culture and unusual ability to combine things that should not fit together. Now they must build again and create a future that Big Eye cannot control.

The game does not stop everything to explain this story. Instead, it brings the lore into its characters, locations, events and mechanics. The world slowly reveals itself while you play.

Not for everyone. Exactly for someone like you

Players who enjoy farming and crafting games will understand the basic loop of Chainers quickly. You plant crops, collect resources, care for animals and improve your farm.

But Chainers does not stay inside one genre. It also brings in merging, exploration, mini-games, character upgrades and seasonal events. One session may focus on farming, while the next may send you into an event mission or have you working out the best way to create a rare item.

The game works especially well for players who enjoy seeing clear progress. You can look at the farm you started with and compare it with what you have now. New buildings, animals, plots and production options all show the time and choices you’ve put into your time with Chainers.

You can play for a few minutes, collect your crops and leave. You can also spend much longer working on merges, planning upgrades or completing missions. Chainers does not force every player into the same schedule.

Plant. Merge. Explore. Repeat. But make it interesting

Farming gives Chainers its foundation, but merging gives it much of its depth. Players combine resources through different formulas to create new items and open new production paths. Once you understand how the formulas work, every resource starts to look different. A simple item may become part of a much more useful recipe later.

It rewards building more than mindless collecting. Keeping a large pile of resources can help, but a strong farm gives you more options. Buildings, plots, animals and evolved characters create the systems that help you move forward.

The early game asks for some patience. You need to build the basics before the larger systems start working together. Not every player will enjoy that pace, but those who stay begin to see why those first steps matter.

Each upgrade adds something permanent to your farm. You are not simply filling a progress bar and waiting for the game to reset it. You are building the base for everything that comes next.

The sunken world opens a new part of the Chainersverse

The latest season takes Chainers beneath the surface. The Sunken World follows Chavier as he enters a new water location called Tranquil Waters. This is not only a visual change. The season adds a new farmland type, new farming tools, another animal and a fresh set of missions tied directly to the season pass.

The star of the new location is Otto, a Common Otter with 31,313 Biopoints. Otto eats fish and produces shells, adding a new resource loop to the farm. Players can also grow sugarcane and use new Pool Plots made specifically for water farming. These plots come in three versions:

  • Reinforced Pool Plots at Uncommon rarity
  • Stable Pool Plots at Rare rarity
  • Engineered Pool Plots at Epic rarity

The season’s ten-mission chain gives players XP for the season pass. Complete the full story and you can unlock new items along with a premium reward bundle. The update also brings six shop bundles, including limited-supply hero tiers. Tranquil Waters costs $9.99 during its early sale period and moves to $14.99 afterwards.

More importantly, the update shows how Chainers can keep adding new systems without leaving the main farming loop behind. Water plots, fish, shells, sugarcane and Otto all connect back to the same idea: grow your world, learn how its parts work together and use them to open the next stage.

What you build is what you earn

Many blockchain games made earning the main reason to play. When the rewards stop feeling valuable, players have little reason to stay. Chainers takes a different approach. It starts with the world, the farming and the progression. Rewards follow the work you do inside those systems.

The crops you grow, items you merge, animals you develop and structures you build all affect what you can earn. The game connects rewards to real progress instead of placing them in a separate system that has little to do with playing. This becomes more important as players move through the game’s tiers.

The recent Tier 4 update gives advanced players a new stage to work toward. It adds stronger reward pools while lowering the overall Biopoints needed to reach and use the tier. This gives experienced players more value from the farms and systems they have already built.

Players have highlighted how the lower Biopoint requirements and improved reward pools make the new tier more useful. Tier 4 does not replace earlier progress. It gives that progress somewhere new to go.

That fits the wider structure of Chainers: build a foundation, move higher and unlock more from the work you have already done.

Alone on your farm, but never alone in the world

Chainers does not yet offer full multiplayer inside the main farm experience. Your farm remains your own space, and you handle most of its progress alone. However, the game already has an active social layer through Discord and social media.

The Chainers Discord includes its own RPG, where players can challenge each other in PvP, create parties, fight bosses and earn rewards. Community events, UGC channels and the SuperChainers programme give active members more ways to take part. This matters because the community does not feel like a waiting room for future multiplayer features. It already has its own routines, regular players and shared history.

The team plans to bring more of that activity into the main game. Future features include visits to friends’ farms and a PvP Arena, where players will test their characters and strategies against each other.

The third place nobody builds any more, until now

Chainers works best when it stops feeling like a list of daily jobs and starts feeling like a place. You return because your crops have grown, a new event has started or you finally have the resources for an upgrade. You may also return because people in the community have started a boss fight or because a new world like Tranquil Waters gives you something different to explore.

The game does not need every session to last for hours. A short visit still moves your farm forward. A longer session gives you time to explore the more detailed systems. That flexibility helps Chainers fit around the player rather than asking the player to plan their day around the game.

Before you plant your first seed: Notes for newbies

  • New players should focus on building a strong farm before chasing the rarest items. Events and higher tiers give more value to players who already have the right systems in place.
  • Learn the merging formulas early. Merging is not a small side feature. It shapes how you use almost every resource you collect.
  • It also helps to join the Discord. The community can explain parts of the game that the early tutorials do not always make clear, and the separate RPG gives you more to do outside your farm.
  • Keep an eye on limited-time events. New seasons can add valuable items, resources and production options that may not remain available forever.
  • Most importantly, give the game time. The first session introduces the foundation, but the stronger parts of Chainers appear after the systems start connecting.

No download – just open a tab

Chainers removes one of the biggest barriers that often comes with online and blockchain games: getting started. You do not need to download a large client or set up several tools before you can see the game. You can open the website, create an account and begin playing in your browser.

It also does not expect technical knowledge from new players. Farming and crafting feel familiar, while the deeper merging and reward systems appear gradually.

A stable internet connection helps the game run smoothly, especially during busier sessions. That remains one of the limits of its browser-first format. Still, the lack of a download makes it easy to try the game before deciding how much time you want to give it.

The frontier is open. What you build there is yours

Chainers does not try to hide the fact that it continues to grow. New worlds, tiers, animals, characters and multiplayer features still lie ahead. That unfinished quality can feel like a weakness if you want a game with every system already in place. It can also feel exciting if you enjoy entering a world while its community and rules still take shape.

At its heart, Chainers offers a simple promise: the things you build will matter later. Your farm shapes what you can produce. Your characters affect which paths you can take. Your knowledge of merging changes how you use every resource. New updates do not ask you to forget your earlier work; they give that work more places to go.

Now the portal to Tranquil Waters has opened, Tier 4 gives advanced players another level to reach, and the world continues to grow. The tab is open. What you build there remains up to you.
