Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Has a New Developer and it’s Coming Next Year

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has risen from the grave! That’s not to say it couldn’t end up back there, given the game’s troubled development but we have our fingers crossed that, with an all-new developer, it’ll make its new Fall 2024 release date.

The developer in question is The Chinese Room, known for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, Everbody’s Gone to the Rapture and more. Their involvement was heavily, heavily rumoured last year but we’ve now got confirmation the game is in their hands.

Bloodlines 2 was announced back in 2019 and was being developed by Hardsuit Labs. However, development was problematic to say the least. And, in February 2021, publisher Paradox Interactive announced it had been transferred to a new developer. Now, with the promised September reveal, we know that’s The Chinese Room.

As noted in The Chinese Room’s latest video, the studio has a history of delivering some amazing stories. And the studio’s staff are confident that they can do the same for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. That said the studio hasn’t done a log with combat. And, going by the brief trailer, this sequel is retaining the original’s combat and magic.

What hasn’t been revealed is whether development has started from scratch. Given that the game changed hands in February 2021, we suspect The Chinese Room did begin again. Hopefully it’ll all have been worth the wait when Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 lands on PC and console Fall 2024.
