We bet the champagne has been flowing at VOID Interactive this weekend. Its tactical shooter Ready or Not, which launched on consoles last week, has sold more than one million copies over the weekend. Those sales are split across PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and along with its existing PC sales, it brings the total to a whopping 10 million sales.

Not bad for an entirely remote independent games studio, eh? And, based on our time with the game, it’s very well deserved. In our Ready or Not review, we called it a “tense and atmospheric experience quite unlike anything else out there”. Although it’s largely marketed as a multiplayer experience, we had a great time playing solo, saying, “Whether you’re playing as a commander in its single-player mode or with a team of others online, you’ll clear out rooms with your heart pounding due to the realism and unpredictability of the action as it unfolds.”

Having sold one million copies in just a few days, Ready or Not is expected to continue to sell well over the next few weeks, although it’s safe to say that VOID Interactive’s expectations have already been smashed.

“When we launched Ready or Not on PC, it took about 36 days to reach 1 million units sold. On console, it took about 3.6 days,” said Julio Rodriguez, the studio’s CEO. “I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished together. It’s a huge moment, and one we don’t take for granted.”

If you feel like jumping in and seeing what all the fuss is about, Ready or Not is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. If you fancy a realistic SWAT experience that sees you diffusing hostage situations and dealing with bomb threats, it’s well worth checking out.
