Claws of Awaji, the first expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is now available

Like the last few entries in the Assassin’s Creed series, the brilliant Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a huge, huge game, offering dozens of hours of content. If you’ve finished its story and have been left wanting more, however, then today is a good day for you. Claws of Awaji, the first expansion for what is undoubtedly one of the best Assassin’s Creed games yet, is now available on PC and consoles.
Continuing the story of Naoe and Yasuke, Claws of Awaji requires players to have completed the main story of the base game to access it. It’s worth it, too, as it introduces a brand new region to the game, along with new skills, weapons, armour, and enemies to use them on. Needless to say, it’s a pretty chunky piece of content, offering over ten hours of additional gameplay.
The story of Claws of Awaji opens with Naoe being drawn to the island of Awaji in pursuit of a mysterious shinobi. Once there, however, she comes face to face with the fearsome Sanzoku Ippa, a ruthless faction that threatens the island’s peace. Working alongside Yasuke, that’s hopefully something Naoe can put right.
The good news is that all players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows or subscribe to Ubisoft+ will have access to Claws of Awaji for free. For those who don’t have free access, it’s also available as a standalone purchase. Even if you don’t get Claws of Awaji you benefit from it, though, with a new weapon for Naoe, the Bo Staff, now being available to obtain in the base game via a free quest.
