It seems like Christmas-themed games are en vogue this year. We’ve already had Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, after all, and an updated version of The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. Today another joins the party, based on a tradition that has seemingly only get more popular in recent years. The Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Heroes, available now on PC and consoles, swaps elf-based mischief for fun 2D platforming for all the family.

Based on the book by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell, The Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Heroes marks the debut of Scout Elf in a video game. For 20 years he’s been keeping kids around the world amused with his antics, and now he can also entertain in video game form. Players will take control of a Scout Elf-in-training, and race through 24 levels spread across the North Pole, even including Santa’s Workshop. Along the way, there are puzzles to solve, minigames to have fun with, and cookie-themed challenges to complete.

“We can’t wait to further immerse families in the magic of the North Pole through Christmas Heroes,” said Chanda Bell, co-founder and co-CEO of The Lumistella Company, who has worked with Outright Games to bring this title to fruition. “We’ve always looked for new ways to share our characters, stories and adventures with the world, and now families can actually step inside and experience it for themselves. Whether they’re solving puzzles, exploring Santa’s Workshop, or just enjoying a bit of festive fun together, the game invites everyone to be part of the magic.”

For those interested in some Christmas-themed fun for all the family, The Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Heroes is available right now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC, priced at £34.99/$39.99.
