Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon are both getting 60fps updates this week

We’ve enjoyed most entries in the Far Cry series, but 2012’s Far Cry 3 is one of our favourites, thanks largely to its unhinged villain, Vaas. And while it’s possible to play Far Cry 3 on current-gen consoles thanks to the remastered Classic Edition release in 2018, it’s not been as enjoyable as it could be thanks to being locked at 30fps. That’s about to come to an end, though, with Ubisoft set to release an update this week that will allow it to run at 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The 60fps update for Far Cry 3: Classic Edition will land on Wednesday 21st January, and will make the game feel much smoother and more responsive on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which can only be a good thing. And best of all? It’s free. Check out the trailer below.

Far Cry 3: Classic Edition isn’t the only game in the Far Cry series getting an update on that day, either. The Classic Edition of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the outrageous standalone expansion for the game which is a parody of 1980s action films, is also getting a free 60fps update on 21st January, making it a good day for Far Cry fans indeed. Here’s a trailer for that.

Judging by a teaser image released by the official Far Cry X account, a third Far Cry game will receive a 60fps update on the very same day, too: Far Cry Primal. That’s likely to be announced by Ubisoft tomorrow.

If you’re a Far Cry fan that’s been itching to revisit some of the series’ older games on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S you’ll soon be set to do so in an ideal manner, then, short of them receiving remakes or remasters, and they don’t really need them. The only question now is: which games will Ubisoft update next to run at 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S? Watch_Dogs and Watch_Dogs 2 would be nice.
