Remember SSX, the fun snowboarding arcade racing game series by EA in which you could pull off ridiculous tricks to gain boost? I wish it would return, but it’s not likely. For that reason, it’s nice that there’s a spiritual successor on the way. HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate by Wabisabi Games and Acclaim hopes to pick up where SSX left off, letting players race and perform outlandish tricks while speeding down slopes covered in snow.

HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate unfortunately doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it’s set to launch later this year on PC and consoles. And when it does so, players will be able to jump into a variety of modes, each one having something unique to offer.

There’s a Race Mode, of course, in which players will compete to race to the finish line, performing tricks to fill their boost meter for extra oomph. Alternatively, you might have more fun with Challenge Mode, in which you’ll have to complete objectives to get the highest score and climb up the leaderboards.

Other modes include Chill, where you’ll be able to freely explore tracks, Multiplayer, where you can race against others both on and offline, and Shred, where, believe it or not, you’ll hit the slopes as a “sentient snowboarding taco.” Yes, really. All in all, it sounds like an entertaining way to spend some time, and it has wonderful cel-shaded visuals to make it even more eye-catching and fun.
