Just launched into early access, Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s Subnautica 2 has got off to a very impressive start. It’s been announced that the underwater survival adventure has surpassed 2 million sales within just 12 hours of its launch, putting it in a great position to eventually surpass its predecessor as it moves though early access.

When developing Subnautica 2, developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment was mindful to deliver an experience that was familiar and remained faithful to the original game, all the while delivering new features and more to enrich its gameplay and world, making it feel fresh. It appears it’s achieved that goal, with it currently sitting with ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam with over 12,000 reviews.

Available on both PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles during its early access period, Subnautica 2 has reached another impressive milestone, too: over 650,000 concurrent players. That’s a lot of people exploring aquatic locations while doing all they can to survive. Even more impressive is the fact that the game reached over 467,000 concurrent player on Steam alone, which is approximate nine times more than the original Subnautica has ever achieved.

If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, Subnautica 2 allows you to play alone or with others, exploring a range of biomes in order to make discoveries, find useful resources and push the story forward. Along the way, there are survival elements to contend with, too, and you can build your own base, making it as big and impressive as you wish. It’s a game that you can somewhat chill with, then, though there’s also some challenge to it.

Expected to remain in early access for around two years, you can pick up Subnautica 2 for the very reasonable price of just £25.99/$29.99. It’s also available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so if you’re already a subscriber, why not give it a go?
