Another Crab’s Treasure is out now on Nintendo Switch 2
If you like your soulslikes a little different, there’s a good chance you’ve already played Another Crab’s Treasure. Released back in 2024, this adventure casts you as a crab exploring an underwater world. Not your typical soulslike, then, but Aggro Crab’s take on the genre stands out for all the right reasons. And as of today, it’s landed on a brand new format: Nintendo Switch 2.
If you’re yet to play it, then, now’s the perfect time. And better yet, if you own the Switch version of the game, either digitally or physically, you’re entitled to upgrade to the Switch 2 version completely free. It seems there are no unique features in the Switch 2 version, but we can expect better visuals and framerate over the OG Switch release.
If you’re not familiar with Another Crab’s Treasure, it’s best described as a soulslike for people who don’t like soulslikes. Gone are the dark and foreboding settings found in FromSoftware’s games, replaced with a bold and colourful underwater world. And while its combat is inspired by the likes of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, its whimsical nature and generous accessibility settings means it’s easy for anyone to play.
You can play this exactly as you would Dark Souls if you want, dodging and parrying and carefully timing every attack. Or you can tweak the settings and make it a walk in the park. You can even change out your crab’s shell for a loaded pistol if you want, shooting your way through everything without a second thought.
When we reviewed it back in 2024, we enjoyed the game but complained about numerous bugs that were present. Thanks to two years of meaningful updates and patches, Another Crab’s Treasure is in the best state ever. That means it’s a great time to jump in for the first time, or switch over to the Switch 2 version. If you’ve played on Switch 1, you’ll be able to transfer your save file, too.
Should you already own the game on Switch 1, head over to the eShop to grab the Upgrade Pack for free. If you’re yet to pick it up, it’s currently available for just $11.99 – on sale until 10th September.
