Quarantine Zone’s Miami Zero DLC is the closest we’re going to get to a Dead Island 2 crossover with its sun, sand and surf vibe, and if you’re looking for a reason to return to this zombie-detecting checkpoint sim, this is it. Even better, it’s completely free and you can get your hands on it right now.
The DLC, which is folded into Quarantine Zone’s latest update invites you to “..step into the first chaotic days of the outbreak and discover how the infection that would soon engulf the world began.” Don’t count on getting to avert the apocalypse but at least you’ll be able to save a few sun worshippers.
But this is more than just a change of scenery. Quarantine Zone: Miami Zero introduces a host of new NPCs, weapons and more. Wielding a taser instead of a handgun may seem like a step down but as you can tell from the below trailer there’s the chance for some shocking shenanigans.
Throw in new tools, new symptoms, a new story and some very silly survivor outfits, and you’ve got plenty to occupy you as you seek to identify the infected. As with the base game, it won’t always be that straightforward and you risk discovering that the person you put in quarantine has turned and chowed down on the others.
