Injustice 2 Coming in 2017

After leaks over the past couple days, Injustice 2 has been officially revealed along with a CGI trailer. It will again be developed by NetherRealm studios who made the original Injustice: Gods Among Us – the well-received fighting game set in the DC comics universe.

Injustice 2 is promising to improve upon the original in every way with new characters and environments, as well as “taking environment destruction and interaction to the next level.” It will feature a massive selection of both Super Heroes and Super Villains and will allow you to customise every one with unique and powerful gear.

Injustice 2 will also introduce a new “Gear System” which will use RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot boxes whenever you play the game. These will give you character-specific gear to outfit and power your fighters with, changing not just their look but playing style as well. NetherRealm promises that this system allows for you to build your own roster of Superheroes that will be different from any other player. For instance, after only a few play sessions you can expect your Aquaman or Batman to look and play different from the others you come across. This all sounds very intriguing – and maybe a little too promising – but we will have to wait and see what exactly comes of this Gear System.

Injustice 2 will also continue the storyline on from the original and we can see what became of Batman and Superman in their storylines. More details are promised to follow on the lead-up to the launch in 2017 and you can be sure to check back to GameSpew for all the info!

By the way, is that Bryan Cranston in the trailer?
