Resident Evil 7’s demo – which is still unfortunately exclusive to Playstation 4 – has received a 3GB update adding new content. Those who never downloaded the original are free to download it now on the Playstation Store with no Playstation Plus required.
The demo has been generally very well received for taking Resident Evil 7 in a completely new direction than many of the previous titles – specifically Resident Evil 5 & 6. The update includes new areas of the house to explore with new items to find. We can most likely expect a few secrets – or at least people hunting for secrets – as there were many items in the original that found no use – such as the mysterious dummy finger.
The game, which is now rebranding itself as a full horror title, takes place in the outbacks of Louisiana on an abandoned plantation. Or at least, seems abandoned until you come across the mysterious “family” who can be seen both in the demo and in the terrifying newly released trailer below.
Resident Evil 7 will be available January 24, 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The updated demo is currently exclusively available on PSN.
Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
