Stardew Valley on PS4 and Xbox One Gets Release Date, Switch Version Announced

Hit farming game Stardew Valley is making its way to Playstation 4 and Xbox One in early December. Developer, Concerned Ape, revealed the release dates as 13th December for PS4 players in North America and the 14th for everyone else – both PS4 and Xbox One. He also revealed he is currently developing a version of the game for next year’s Nintendo Switch.

Stardew Valley released earlier this year on PC to critical, commercial and public acclaim. Who would have thought farming could be so much fun? Well, unless you’re a Harvest Moon fan. The game mixes a wonderful blend of farming, mining, socialising, fishing and whatever else you want to do – as long as you’re having fun while you play, it doesn’t much matter.

The title was developed by a single person over the course of four years as he “found the Harvest Moon series had became progressively worse” and wanted an alternative. Well, he did it, and to many, created something even better.

In his blog, he also revealed that work had been halted on making a Wii U version and, instead, development duties had shifted to starting a port for the Nintendo Switch:

“Stardew Valley will not be coming to the Wii U, however. Looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape, we made the difficult choice to shift our development efforts to creating a version for Nintendo Switch.  I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch’s unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for Stardew Valley. I do want to emphasize that I am absolutely committed to seeing Stardew Valley on Nintendo platforms, and I really do appreciate your support and understanding in this.”
