Battlefield 1 is set to get its first new map this December. The map, entitled “Giant’s Shadow”, will become available for all on December 20. Those who pre-ordered the game or own the Premium Pass will have early access; getting in on December 13.
You can’t see too much in the new trailer – apart from a rather conspicuous weapon. The map itself seems to be a mix of a village, fields and a train-station. To my eyes, looking a lot like St. Quentin Scar from the base game. Which means, unfortunately, still no tundra or snow map – how cold of DICE.
This is, at least for now, the only free map expected from Battlefield 1. There is four planned expansion packs, available with the Premium Pass, set to release in 2017. The first of which will be “They Shall Not Pass” releasing in March where players will finally be able to play as the French Army. Each expansion will include four maps, five weapons as well as new armies, vehicles and elite classes.
Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
