For Honor’s single-player campaign will require an internet connection

Update: Ubisoft have since removed the quote signifying that For Honor would include an “offline” experience from the Steam and Uplay storefronts.

Ubisoft’s upcoming fight-em-up, For Honor, will require an internet connection – even if you just want to partake in the single-player.

While not entirely surprising (For Honor’s main grab is its multiplayer, after all) it goes against what is being advertised on both the Steam and Uplay listings of the game. On both pages, the title is shown as having “an engaging, single-player offline campaign.” Yet, last night, an Ubisoft representative confirmed that the game “is an always online experience.”

In regards to why For Honor requires an internet connection, Ubisoft said, “Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes.” They go on to say that, “players will need to be connected to the Internet at all times to play.”

While this won’t come as too worrying to most people, Ubisoft really should hurry up and update their store descriptions on both Steam and Uplay.

For Honor is set to release Valentine’s Day, February 14, next year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
