Stealth game Styx: Shards of Darkness has gotten a new gameplay trailer as well as a confirmation of its release date. The game was originally set to release sometime late this year but was delayed until early 2017 – now confirmed as March 14, 2017.
Styx: Shards of Darkness is the sequel to the great-but-flawed 2014 title, Styx: Master of Shadows. Which itself was based off Cyanide’s previous, Of Orcs and Men. A good choice as protagonist Styx was one of the few things that stood out – a villainous, tongue-in-cheek anti-hero.
The new gameplay trailer shows off some of Styx’s goodies in the upcoming sequel. We get a look at controllable clones, acid traps and crossbows – a good mix of equipment required for every assassin.
Of course, if we’re being honest, some animations still look a little janky but Cyanide promise that the sequel “build upon the foundations, with more fluid movement and climbing abilities, a richer story told with cinematics including an enhanced bestiary, side missions, as well as new and improved sneaking and assassination kills.”
Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
