It’s not too long until the super-difficult Nioh is finally in our hands. Koei Tecmo announced yesterday that the title has gone gold and is set for release of early February. To whet your appetite there is a new, fifteen-minute gameplay trailer.
The gameplay shows off a new, unseen area, Mount Ibuki, along with a wealth of new enemies, weapons and equipment. In an interview with Gamereactor Espana, game director Yosuke Hayashi also added that Nioh will be getting a free PvP mode sometime after launch:
“We plan to offer a player-versus-player mode for free in the near future following launch. There is also a season pass available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store that will add three large downloadable contents in short term after the game is released.”
Nioh’s developers have been taking significant cues from players of the game’s demos. From feedback, the developers have since tweaked weapon damage and enemy damage amongst many others.
Nioh is set to release on 7th February in North America and 9th February in Japan. The game will release in all other regions on 8th February.

He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
