For Honor’s Open Beta to Begin Days Before Launch

For Honor’s closed beta just ended yesterday but if you missed it – don’t worry! According to a leaked email, Ubisoft is set to launch an open beta on all major platforms in the few days before the title launches on February 14.

The email, seen on NeoGAF after been sent to a Twitch Prime member, details various events taking place before and after For Honor’s launch. Inlcuded were details on the – now finished – closed beta, a celebrity livestream taking place on February 7 and, most importantly, details on the open beta.

“February 9th-12th is the Open beta, where you can pledge your sword to Knights, Vikings, or Samurai, then fight for your faction alongside your favorite generals!” It also goes into detail on extra “bonuses” Twitch Prime members will get – including exclusive loot, an emblem and ten-days free “champion status”.

While Ubisoft certainly need to stretch to call a trial taking place days before launch a “beta” rather than a demo, it will allow us to see whether their next big multiplayer hit really takes off. A similar beta scheme was used during the launch of 2015’s Rainbow Six: Siege, which has faced continued and growing success since its release.

Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
