The internet was sceptical when Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle leaked a few weeks ago.
And rightly so, I suppose. I mean, Mario has no place fraternising with creatures from other IPs! He belongs firmly on his own platform surrounded by nobody but Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser and the occasional Donkey Kong. But somehow, seeing him frolicking with Ubisoft’s cutesy mascots, the Rabbids, it felt right. And it looked so goddamn gorgeous.
Nothing quite beats Nintendo’s trademark over-the-top colourful visuals, and the Rabbids fit perfectly into that. Just on the art of the game alone, I’m completely sold on Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. I mean, look at it. It’s so pretty I could weep. Feast your eyes on the multitude of screenshots below:
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is due out on August 29th, exclusive to Nintendo Switch. I don’t know about you but I simply cannot wait.

Kim's been into video games since playing Dizzy on her brother's Commodore 64 as a nipper. She'll give just about anything a go, but she's got a particular soft spot for indie adventures, roguelikes and puzzle games. If she's not gaming, she's probably got her nose in a book, and you can find her bookish musings on her blog at What The Book. She's also freelanced in several places, writes about Lego at That Brick Site, and is constantly thinking about new projects she'll undoubtedly quickly abandon.
