10 Upcoming JRPGS to Keep You Questing

9. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Developer: Square Enix
Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: 2017
Since its PlayStation 2 release back in 2006, Final Fantasy XII has been largely inaccessible. That is, unless you dust off your PS2 Slim (or original PS3) and those horrendous A/V cables. Fans have been aching for this remaster since rumours started bubbling a couple of years back. Thankfully, we do not have to wait much longer: Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age brings Square Enix’s game to high-definition with a slew of other improvements. Most notably is the incorporation of a new job system that was originally in the International Zodiac Job System version (which never made it to Western shores). Alongside this, difficulty tweaking and the introduction of a 100-stage Trial Mode make venturing back into the world of Ivalice all the more tempting. Plus, you know, you get to be a sky pirate. That’s worth something too, right?
10. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
Developer: Level-5
Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: TBA

When Level-5’s Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch released in 2011 (2013 in NA, EU), players fell in love with its captivating fantasy world, the incredible art style (compliments of Studio Ghibli), and its heartfelt story. Consequently, if you have not played this gem of a PlayStation 3 game, go and download it right away. When Sony announced Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom at PlayStation Experience in late 2015, it immediately became my most anticipated game. The sequel follows a new cast of characters in the same world in Ni No Kuni. Expect more lovable characters, more familiars to capture and train, and more magic and wonder. We can likely anticipate new information from Tokyo Game Show or PlayStation Experience in the coming months.
