10 Upcoming JRPGS to Keep You Questing

7. Tales of Berseria
Developer: Bandai Namco
Platform(s): PlayStation 3 (Japan only), PlayStation 4, Windows
Release Date: August 18, 2016 (JP), Q1 2017 (NA, EU)
Tales of Berseria is the first game in the Tales series to feature a solo female protagonist. Players follow Velvet Crowe, a pirate haunted by events in her past. Despite not sharing much information yet about the upcoming game, Bandai Namco have revealed that Berseria will serve as a “distant prequel to Tales of Zestiria”. On top of that, however, they emphasized that Berseria’s story will stand on its own (the norm for the Tales series). The game will once again feature the combo-driven action battle system that sets Tales apart from other JRPGs, giving PlayStation 4 owners in the West something to look forward to in early 2017.
8. Valkyria: Azure Revolution
Developer: Media.Vision
Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: Q4 2016 (JP)
Valkyria: Azure Revolution is a side story set in the universe of Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles games. Though not yet announced for the West, the recent Valkyria Chronicles Remastered on PlayStation 4 may be testing the waters. Azure Revolution was originally designed to stray from the deep strategic gameplay that the series is known for in exchange for action-based gameplay. However, after fan feedback, Sega is currently reworking the battle system to be more akin to previous games in the series. Either way, recent screenshots highlight the gorgeous cel-shaded art that hooked fans in the first place. By listening to fans, Sega is telling its audience that they want to make this game right, and that is certainly encouraging.
