Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s foray into the mobile gaming world of iOS devices will launch on 15th December, and can be purchased in full for £7.99.
Nintendo have stated their intent to conquer the world of mobile gaming for a while now. While that has increased tensions between executives in the company as to which direction Nintendo want to pursue their consumer markets, it is without a doubt that the mobile gaming market is a profitable and popular one. Nintendo are set to make their mark in it come the end of the year.
The game will launch in 151 countries at the end of the year and the whole game can be unlocked for less than a tenner. A digital stocking filler for Christmas if you will.
It will be free to download at the outset but options will be limited for free players. All the game modes will therefore be unlockable behind the paywall of £7.99.
Super Mario Run is simple enough to play: it involves controlling Mario as he runs across screen, using your finger to make him jump in the customary fashion. One finger push can jump over enemies, unleash special characteristics and navigate obstacles.
The game has been developed under the direction of Shigeru Miyamoto, and it “brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”
Super Mario Run will be available to any user of iOS 8.0 or later and it can be used in many different languages. It’s sure to be a hit with adults and children alike, and will be an especially ample opportunity for Nintendo to convince certain groups that mobile gaming is the way forward.
